2007-08 / Written and Directed by Sez-U, Little Gold Redilocks was performed in Jan 2008. Starting in Sept 2007 Sez-U worked with a group of volunteers from Bath Place Community Centre in Leamington Spa, creating a new pantomime that was inspired by a old scenario script discovered when Bath Place researched their history as part of a Heritage Lottery grant. Using staff, volunteers and users of Bath Place we created a two act panto that was based on the original plot but updated with contemporary references. Set in 1975-ish the panto followed Little Gold Redilocks on a journey of political and social discovery as she battled the evil Wolfie Dark Claw and his plans to knock down Bath Place, the woods and Granny's house. > more images from this project

I brought my grandson, where else in Leamington could you have such a good night out for £4.00, as good as a professional panto. Congratulations - what a wonderful evening a real tribute to all your hard work. I really enjoyed the performance, it was the most engaging and entertaining theatre piece I had seen in a long time. 2005 / Captain S.E. Indwell and Dr. Skyre use a crystal ball to generate and stream of images and sounds to make sense of their castaway circumstance and their obsession with science, mysticism, power and mathematics. 2005 / Devised performance by local group of adults exploring notions of Utopian society and values.

Enclosure

2004 / Enclosure was written and devised by the cast thorugh open workshop sessions and discussions looking at land, its ownership and usage through the ages. Through stories that evoke the old mysteries of the land as more and more of us lay claims to the land it fast becomes clear that we are running out of space.

Breaking Bread

2003 / A play inspired by the work of a local reconciliation and forgiveness group that brought together ex fighters and communities from the Balkan conflict. The play was set in a bakery after the end of a civil war. It explored the way a fractured community might try and come to terms with the aftermath of such events, each group in the bakery holding a key element of a precious recipe but still unable to trust the opposite group to work as a whole. The play was created so that no script was written but a improvised scenario play evolved allowing involvement of adults of diverse abilities. Performed outdoors and at community venues.

The Palace of Memory

2001 / The Palace of Memory was created after over 80 people from across the community told their stories of how they or their families arrived in Leamington. Set in the future two curators threatened with museum closure try to discover the secrets of the water canisters. Inside the water contains memories from the past but in ever more desperate experiments they seek to reveal the truth before the authorities close them down. Performed in the old gallery and museum site twice a day for a month to schools and local community groups the play explored the connections between memory, history and community.

I Want More

1999 / I Want More was created in collaboration with a locally based national hot line and drugs advisory group Family and Friends. Using testament and research from their youth group a play was created following a group of young people on a road trip to nowhere. This was toured into schools and youth clubs across Warwickshire.

From Deportation to Probation

1998 / From Probation to Deportation was the first piece Sez-U was commissioned to write. It told the tale of a modern day youth offender (fictional) and that of a local youth (fact) who was transported to Van Demiens Land for stealing a hat a knife and a five pound note in 1834. Using the records held at Warwick and those still to be found in Tasmania the two stories confronted out attitudes to youth crime and so called zero tolerance. It was performed in schools and community venues across Warwickshire.
